Introduced to the visual arts by his uncle Farrous Friedman, he rubbed shoulders with the world of painters at the Place du Tertre, became one of Utrillo’s models and obtained a diploma in pattern-making. A lover of art, he took up painting, and his main sources of inspiration were women, particularly those of the ‘Moulin Rouge’, whom he depicted with realism, finesse and talent, including on sheet music.
