Description
LA TRIPIERE D’OR in Caen, a Normandy-based gastronomic society (*).
TWO ITEMS, circa 1951:
- A LONG NECKLACE FOR FORMAL WEAR by JURAT. A large (41.5 cm) and wide (9.5 cm) velvet ribbon, half red (outer side) and half blue (inner side); the two colours separated by an embroidered gold canetille border – these colours are those of the city of CAEN. The ribbon supports, sewn by the handles, a gilded brass pot (6 x 12 cm). Set in the centre is an enamelled insignia crowned with the brotherhood’s emblem, in the colours of Normandy and bearing the inscription ‘DEX AIE’ (the historic motto of Normandy: ‘May God help us’). - The pot and high-fire enamelled insignia are manufactured by DRAGO – PARIS (manufacturer of French army insignia).
- PIN with a military-style disc fastening, Drago high-fire enamel, featuring the brotherhood’s jacket coat of arms.
( * ) “La tripière d’or de Caen”: founded on 7 February 1951 by Jean Le Hir, a renowned chef from Caen. Dedicated to the tasting and promotion of Caen-style tripe. Every year in October, the guild organises a competition for professionals, attracting around 150 participants from across France and Europe.
