Description
circa 1880 / 1900, MATERNITY MEDAL – In the centre, within a seal-style border, a young mother in right-facing profile, holding a baby in her arms; to the right, ‘MATERNITY’. Reverse side left blank for personalisation, decorated with fruit, flowers and leaves – 31 mm – 15 grams. No engraver’s name; likely a trial strike. (Silver? Silver-plated bronze?). Note: as this period piece has not been awarded, it would be a lovely gesture to restore its original purpose and present it to a new mother as a birth medal, having it engraved with her name and the newborn’s first name and surname, along with the date of birth.
