Description
A Louis XV-style tomb chest in rosewood veneer, featuring five drawers arranged in three rows. An elegant design featuring a fluted decoration and rich trimmings of chiselled and patinated bronze with a motif of serrated clasps, including corner finials. Grey-veined marble top with a restored corbin’s beak. 85 x 130 x 65 cm. Sun-faded on the right-hand side, with normal signs of wear. Signed by the cabinetmaker Jean Baptiste GALET, who qualified as a master in 1754 (stamped twice with the guild’s hallmark).
