A portico clock in white marble with gilded chiselled bronze ornamentation featuring garlands, floral bouquets, and a beaded frieze; the enamelled dial, signed ‘Pochon à Paris’, is surmounted by a vase of flowers, Louis XVI period, with key and pendulum; Jean-Charles Pochon, who became a master clockmaker around 1775, ranks amongst the most important Parisian clockmakers of the last third of the 18th century. He set up shop in Enclos Saint-Martin-des-Champs in 1780, then moved to Rue de l’Égalité in 1800. Dimensions: 50 x 34 x 16.5 cm
