Description
A pair of loudspeakers by André CHARLIN. An electroacoustician born in 1903, André Charlin was the inventor of a vast number of patents, including the acoustic labyrinth, the principle behind the ‘columns’. The column shape was chosen because it is rigid and dampens vibrations; this 120 cm tall model extends down to 30 Hz in the bass range. Dating from the late 1960s to early 1970s, this pair of loudspeakers represents the culmination of Charlin’s work; the body is a textured cream-white, the top features a gold-coloured grille, and the whole stands on a small plinth. Naturally very fragile, it is exceptional to find a pair of floorstanding speakers in such pristine condition. Signed on an aluminium plate: A. Charlin Paris. With cables.
