Charles RIVAUD (1859–1923) A 750 °/°° yellow gold ‘amati’ necklace with articulated links, featuring stylised oak leaf motifs holding baroque pearls. Monogrammed ‘C.R.’ for Charles Rivaud. Goldsmith’s mark ‘C.R.’ Eagle’s head hallmarks. With its original case marked ‘CH.RIVAUD – 23 R. de Seine Paris’. Circa 1900 Gross weight: 66.7 g Charles RIVAUD was an Art Nouveau jewellery craftsman who occupied a unique place in the revival of French jewellery in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He belonged to that generation of designers, alongside René Lalique, who sought to free jewellery from the conventions of traditional jewellery-making through the use of new motifs and innovative materials such as enamels, mother-of-pearl and natural pearls. He exhibited regularly at the major Parisian art fairs of the time. This necklace is similar to the piece presented at the 1904 Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
