RELIC CHASIS: A gilded silver reliquary bearing the Minerva hallmark, decorated with stylised floral motifs, medallions bearing numerals and an openwork frieze. Topped by a cross adorned with a pearl. Houses a glass cylinder containing a red velvet cushion. Richly decorated with navette-cut and cabochon opals, semi-precious stones and rubellite-type stones. Maker’s mark: Ed Lesage, goldsmith in Paris. No. 2177. Minor chips and damage (1 damaged opal). Dimensions: H 33.5 x 13 cm. Gross weight: 978 g (damage to the left side of the reliquary).
