Jean COCTEAU (1889–1963) Lot comprising four drawings: - Cruel Birds in Spain Pencil on paper Signed “Jean Cocteau étoile” in pencil top right, annotated “Cruel Birds in Spain” bottom left 27 x 21 cm (minor creases on the left-hand edge) - Two Figures Red pencil on paper Signed “J Cocteau étoile” at the bottom centre, annotated in blue on the left 13.5 x 21 cm (foxing spots) - The tipsy cabaret patron, 1953 Pencil on paper Signed “Jean étoile” and dated in blue ink at the bottom centre 35 x 8 cm (fragment of a drawing, sun-fading, creases) - Woman in a veil on the front, portrait of a man on the reverse Pencil on paper and ink wash 28 x 43 cm (the ink wash is by another hand; creases; a hole in the bottom left-hand corner; a small tear in the bottom right-hand corner; two holes in the top corners; stains) We would like to thank Mr Dominique BERT for confirming the authenticity of these drawings.
