[MILITARIA – ARTILLERY]. SURIREY DE SAINT REMY (P.). MÉMOIRES D'ARTILLERIE. P., Rollin fils, 1745. Three quarto volumes in marbled fawn calfskin, spines with five raised bands, title and volume number labels in garnet morocco, red edges (contemporary binding). 5 cap covers worn away, cracks or incipient cracks at the jaws, corners blunt; volume 3 is missing its volume number label; volume 1 is missing part of its volume number label. THIRD EDITION, revised by Le Blond, the latest and most comprehensive of this REFERENCE MANUAL on artillery techniques, expanded by over 550 pages and 29 plates. It contains a PORTRAIT of the author, General Pierre SURIREY DE SAINT REMY (1644–1716), 3 title vignettes, 12 vignettes within the text depicting battle scenes and 208 PLATES as inserts, often fold-out, all engraved on copper, as well as 17 fold-out TABLES as inserts.
