Description
[AVIATION – PHOTOGRAPHY]. THIRIAT (Jacqueline). PISTE 26. Square folio (approx. 47 × 38 cm), half black shagreen, morocco-bound cloth covers, gilt title on the spine. ALBUM CONTAINING 90 BLACK-AND-WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS of various sizes (including 7 double-page spreads), mounted on black laid paper, some on labelled tracing paper, depicting aircraft (Boeing 727-200, Caravelle, Boeing 747, Boeing 707, Fokker 27, Breguet, Boeing 737, Trident, Douglas DC-9), in flight or on the runway. Jacqueline THIRIAT was probably an airline pilot with AIR FRANCE, as suggested by the first photograph, which shows a ‘10,000 flying hours – Air France’ badge, a prestigious symbol of excellence in aviation. ENCLOSED in a black leather briefcase is a collection of 102 black-and-white (and a few colour) PHOTOGRAPHS of various sizes, many of which focus on the CONCORDE (the aircraft, crews, assembly lines, etc.), including a photograph of the crew of the first Concorde flight (2 March 1969) bearing the AUTOGRAPHED SIGNATURES of the four crew members (Michel Retif, André Turcat, Henri Perrier and Jacques Guignard). Some photographs are captioned and/or bear ink stamps and dates [1955 to 1974] (S.N.C.A.S.E./Toulouse plant, Sud-Aviation/Toulouse plant, Aérospatiale/Toulouse plant, S.N.I.A.S., France-Soir, etc.). A BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION.
