Two volumes, in-8 ½, in black calfskin, smooth spine decorated with gilt metalwork in a rocaille style, title label in garnet morocco, edges and caps edged with gold thread, edges speckled with blue (contemporary binding). Some leather missing from the upper cap of vol. 1; a slight tear beginning at the fore-edges, but the stitching is very sound. FIRST EDITION. FRONTISPICE featuring a portrait of the three Condés, 6 colour PLATES of uniforms by Bauderon and a large fold-out MAP. A well-bound copy with a decorative spine. From the ‘BIBLIOTHÈQUE DE MERLEMONT’, with a heraldic bookplate.
