Italian-style 12mo (252 × 165 mm) in havana sheepskin, entirely decorated with cold-stamped foliage, smooth spine, gilt title with two small gilt metal fittings (contemporary binding). Slight tears at the joints but strong stitching; three corners worn; small losses at the top of the joints; scattered foxing, sometimes pronounced. ILLUSTRATED EDITION featuring a title vignette (portrait of Dante) and 110 ILLUSTRATIONS by J. FLAXMAN, engraved by Reveil. Text (‘An Analysis of Dante’s Divine Comedy’) in two columns.
