Two parts bound together in a sturdy quarto volume in soft ivory vellum, smooth spine, title in black ink calligraphy (contemporary binding); (6) folios of frontispiece, title page, preface and table of contents, 426 pp., (1) folio of errata – 259 pp., (1) page of errata and privilege. Inked bookplate in the margin of the title page: ‘Archives et bibliothèque de Bregeon’. Some foxing and browned leaves; slight water-stain in the lower corner of the volume, from page 243 of Part 1 to the end of the volume. FIRST EDITION, rare. BEAUTIFUL allegorical frontispiece engraved in intaglio.
