In quarto, in havana sheepskin, entirely decorated with a scattered pattern of fleurs-de-lis and a crowned ‘L’, with gilded coat of arms in the centre of the covers, ribbed spine, gilt title, gilt edges (contemporary binding); (8) ff., 685 pp., (27) ff. Skilfully restored binding; slight water stain at the top of the first 9 folios; brown water stain from page 231 to the end; the first 2 folios have been very skilfully restored and lined. FIRST EDITION adorned with a beautiful FRONTISPICE and a full-page ILLUSTRATION by Jean CHALETTE, engraved by Jean-Étienne LASNE, depicting the royal entry on horseback of Louis XIII into Toulouse, which took place in 1621.
