An enhanced copy, as a loose leaf (small paper losses on the left-hand margin, trace of a transverse fold), featuring the half-title page from an identical copy of *Un Singe en hiver* bearing this exceptional AUTOGRAPHED DEDICATION: ‘To Jacques Chardonne and Camille Belguise, thanking them for occupying such a large place in my heart, and asking them to excuse me for this belated dispatch, which I am sending only with reluctance, (I had hoped to have the opportunity to place it in their hands). This work has once again given me the chance to shut myself away with *Vivre à Madère*: it really is my usual diary, though you wouldn’t think so from reading this book [arrow pointing towards the printed title *Un Singe en hiver*].
