The Latest News from the Kingdom of Plants, or Microscopic Studies and Observations of the Hidden Reproductive Parts of Plants in their Flowers, and of the Insects Found Therein. Nuremberg, 1790. In folio, contemporary Bradel-style cardboard binding (scuffed). An edition comprising 51 plates with contemporary colouring. Wilhelm Friedrich von Gleichen-Rußwurm (1717–1783), stable master to the Margrave of Bayreuth, was a German biologist. In 1778, he developed a method for staining microorganisms using indigo and carmine. A very fine volume. SB
