Description
A set of duelling pistols, percussion-fired, 12.5 mm calibre. Octagonal barrels with a bronze finish, marked on the top ‘Lefaucheux, 37 Rue Vivienne, Paris’ and numbered ‘4238’; the breeches, breech stocks, front hammers, hammers and fittings are made of iron and engraved with foliage; the stocks are short-barrelled, made of walnut, fluted and carved with foliage at the ends of the barrels; a wooden case, the interior lined with green velvet and signed “Lefaucheux”, containing all its accessories in boxwood and steel. Date: circa 1860–1870. Very fine condition
