GERMANY (Henry René d’). COSTUME AND FURNITURE ACCESSORIES from the thirteenth to the mid-nineteenth century. Paris: Schemit, 1928. Three folio volumes in half-greige cloth, covers and spines covered in printed ivory-coloured paper (publisher’s binding). The upper cover of volume 1 is split; the inner hinge of volume 2 is split. FIRST EDITION of this important reference work, with a print run limited to 1,000 COPIES. It contains 393 phototype PLATES reproducing over 3,000 documents: jewellery, buttons, chatelaine chains, seals, cane knobs, fans, mirrors, bags, boxes and snuff boxes, caskets, light fittings and objects made of varnished sheet metal.
