Description
Large contemporary combat pistol from the First Empire. Octagonal rifled barrel, calibre 32 balls per pound. Slightly flared muzzle. Fixed rear sight and slender front sight. Flat lock plates, originally flint-lock, converted to percussion, marked ‘Au Brond...’ (?) in Nantes. Flat percussion hammer. Flue on a weight screwed onto a fitted breech. All iron fittings. Oval-shaped, domed cap with a flat base, decorated with a crane motif. Round trigger guard decorated with rural landscapes. Iron cap forming the cleaning rod entry; rear counter-plates in a bat-wing shape. Beautiful varnished light walnut stock extending to the muzzle. Checkered grip. Barrel secured by a through-pin. Mechanism in working order. Overall length: 330 mm. Condition 1.
