Description
Large flintlock pistol, first third of the 18th century. An interesting barrel with fluted sections followed by rounded sections, featuring two tiers separated by a convex ring. Calibre: 32 balls per pound. The barrel bears the prestigious signature ‘LAZAHRI COMINAZ’ (‘Lazahrino Cominazo’?). The signature of this renowned Italian gunsmith was often forged to increase the pistol’s value. Signature not guaranteed. Flat two-step lock plate, marked ‘Paris’. Flat swan-neck hammer. Angled-sided trigger guard, forged. Bore spring screwed in from the inside. Single-pillar trigger guard. Gun fitted with iron parts. Flat trigger guard. Scroll-shaped trigger. Cap with two long lugs and a prominent faceted stud. Thumb piece in epigraph style. Counter-plates with cut-out caps, forming the entry points for the binding strips. Fairly flat stock in varnished walnut. Three teardrops carved on the counter-plates, the breech tail and the rear of the trigger guard’s wooden mounting.
