NERCIAT (Andréa de). THE DEVIL IN THE BODY. A posthumous work by the highly recommended Dr Cazzoné (Andréa de Nerciat), extraordinary member of the Joyful Faculty of Phallo-Coïro-Pygo-Glottonomics. No place or publisher [Brussels, Poulet-Malassis], 1803–1865 [1865]. Nine parts bound in three small 12½-format volumes in red morocco with corners, ribbed spine, gilt titles and volume numbers, gilt head (contemporary binding). Some scuffing and wear to the binding, faint foxing on the edges and headbands. CLANDESTINE EDITION, printed on Dutch laid paper by Briard for Poulet-Malassis, with titles in red and black. The edition includes 12 UNACCOMPANIED ENGRAVINGS on steel, executed on heavy vellum by Auguste Danse after drawings by Félicien ROPS. Without the publisher’s catalogue, which is normally found at the end of volume 3. ¶ Pia, 336 – Dutel, A-274 – Perceau, 3-7.
