Description
French-made violin bow from the first half of the 20th century, made for Charles Bailly and bearing his brand mark, crafted from pernambuco wood (pre-2007 Convention), with gold fittings. Bow stick length: 72.7 mm. Weight: 61grs. Bow: Crack at the tip; slight cracks near the headplate on the opposite side; various small dents and a slight scratch in the middle of the bow, none of which are serious. The mortise at the base of the bow is slightly damaged. Ebonite handle, ring-grained, mounted in 18-carat gold; wear at the heel; the large rear heel is missing; the loop is worn; the mother-of-pearl covering is missing. Solid gold (9-carat) knob, possibly replaced; 1 pin. In fairly good condition. Sold as is. Due to regulations coming into force on 5 March 2026 concerning permambou, a CITES/CIC certificate must be issued with the bow, but only if it is taken out of the European Union. The application for a CITES/CIC certificate will therefore be made after the sale, should the buyer reside outside the European Union.
