Edmé BOUCHARDON (1698 – 1762) (Studio of) "Allegory of Charity". Red chalk. 30 x 21 cm. (A few small pinholes). Bibliography: Study based on the ‘Allegory of Charity’ from the tomb of Urban VIII by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, known as Bernini (1598–1680), in St Peter’s Basilica, Rome. A similar, more complete study (42 x 27 cm) by Edme Bouchardon, dated circa 1723–1732, is held at the Louvre Museum (INV 24082). Expert: Mr Patrice DUBOIS.
