Pax (Peace) standing on the left, holding an olive branch and a sceptre. ♦ Cohen 218/10 gold francs; RIC 319 Silver Antoninianus struck at Colonia Agrippina (Cologne) in 268. (3.63 g) Very rare type (head facing left). Superb. Postumus did not reign in Rome itself, but was the founder and first emperor of what historians call the Gallic Empire. He established his capital in Cologne (Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium) or Trier, and endowed his empire with all the traditional Roman institutions: a Senate, consuls and the Praetorian Guard.
