SWITZERLAND – FEDERAL RAILWAYS / GENEVA – Commemorative medal ‘ Geneva Airport: the train’, inaugurated on 25 May 1987. Obverse: Design dedicated to the new Geneva Airport rail link. Stylised view of the railway tracks in perspective converging towards the airport; above, a graphic representation evoking air transport infrastructure. Central inscription: ‘Geneva Airport: the train ’. Reverse: Logos of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) in the upper section. In the centre, the coat of arms of the Swiss Confederation and the coat of arms of the Republic and Canton of Geneva. Peripheral inscription: ‘ INAUGURATION’; in the exergue: ‘25 MAY 1987’. 900 fineness mark beneath the coats of arms. Edge: Smooth. Gross weight: 15.00 g. Metal and fineness: 900 silver. Diameter: 33 mm. Face value: No face value – commemorative medal. Date: 25 May 1987. Minting quality: Commemorative medal. Condition: SUP; uniform grey-gold patina and fine surface marks. Historical note: Medal issued to mark the inauguration, on 25 May 1987, of the Geneva Airport rail link by the SBB.
