After studying art and ceramics in Korea and then in Germany, she set up her own studio in Sandhausen before taking over the management of the Margaretenhöhe Ceramics Studio in Essen in 1987. Internationally recognised for her work, she also teaches at Ewha University in Seoul and was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław in 2016. Her career has been marked by numerous prestigious awards in recognition of her contribution to ceramics and the arts and crafts.
