Description
Beautiful flintlock pistol, Louis XV period, with forced bullet, octagonal barrel then round then conical, the three degrees separated by a moulding, reinforced mouth, square of disassembling under the barrel. Round-bodied lock, braced rear cutout, round gooseneck hammer reinforced with a relief, round iron bassoon. Battery spring screwed from inside, iron mounted weapon, round trigger guard, the long splinted cap has been replaced by a wooden cap lighter than the perfectly fitted frame. Beautiful dark varnished walnut frame stopping at mid-barrel, the woodwork of the lock and counter lock is finished with a teardrop in relief. The wood fittings are nicely highlighted with relief carving. Crack on the stock neck. Overall length: 335 mm. Functional mechanism. This large pistol still retains some of the ground gold decoration on the barrel and bears the fine LAMOTHE FILS signature. Condition 1- Grade D
