Description
Dragoon trumpet headpiece, 1825 model modified in 1830, made of brass, with a headband stamped with a flaming grenade framed by laurel and oak leaves. The base of the helmet is stamped on the rear and dated 1830 (?) and marked ‘Reclus’ on the rim. Brass crest comprising a mask stamped with a palmette and surmounted by a Medusa’s head, with two fins decorated with godrons. The upper plate of the crest, where the marmouset is positioned, is missing.
Marmouset with a black horsehair plume (not original). A scarlet horsehair mane in the shape of a brush, ending in a flowing tail. Square-section plume holder with a red plume (showing signs of wear).
Brass chin strap in the shape of interlaced figure-of-eights mounted on a leather chin guard (one fastening ring missing). Brass rosette decorated with a radiating sun motif (diameter 5.5 cm) secured to the helmet by a steel screw.
