*GEORGES MATHIEU (FRANCE/ 1921–2012) Composition (Illustration design for the magazine *United-States Lines Paris*), c. 1960 Gouache on black Canson paper, mounted on heavy paper 31.1 x 49.4 cm. Vertical fold in the centre, and slight losses. This work is recorded in the archives of Mr Edouard Lombard, director of the Georges Mathieu Committee and custodian of the artist’s archives, under reference AG60003. A comparable work to this one, on red Canson paper with the same vertical fold, of the same size, using the same technique and featuring the same type of composition, and also intended to illustrate the magazine *United-States Lines Paris*, was sold at Versailles Enchères on 28 April 2019, lot 73.
