Aubry, 1606. 4 leaves, 1054 pp., 20 folio leaves. Blind-stamped contemporary half-leather with a modern spine label (somewhat bumped and scuffed, spine joint glued). First edition of this volume of the Roman History, translated and edited by the historian and orientalist Johannes Leunclavius (= Löwenklau) (1533–1592), who was active primarily in Basel and was known for his works on Turkish history and his translations. – Graesse II, 393. – Schweiger I, 903. – Greek–Latin parallel text. - With an engraved coat-of-arms ex-libris by ‘Sr. Lister Holte of Aston in Warwickshire Barnt.’ (1720–1770); slightly browned due to the paper and with some light brown spots on the margins, otherwise generally well preserved.
