Law – Law books Curtius, Franciscus the Younger Tractatus feudorum. Corrected and annotated by Ioanne Hauichorstio Monast. Cologne, Birckmann, 1561. 8 leaves, 339 pp., 28 leaves (index). Contemporary blind-stamped pigskin binding with (more recent) binding ribbons (spine stained). 1st German edition. – VD16 ZV 3912 – A systematic treatise (Tractatus) on continental European feudal law (ius feudale). In it, Curtius systematised the often confusing, historically evolved rules governing the legal relationships between feudal lords (dominus) and vassals (vasallus). The edition was comprehensively corrected, edited and annotated with explanatory marginal notes and a detailed subject index by the Westphalian scholar Johann Havichorst (Ioannes Hauichorstius). - Bearing the library stamp of the Karthauser Library in Buchheim, whose holdings were sold at auction in their entirety in 1883/84.
