Gentiani Herveti Aurelii De Domini in coelos Ascensione oratio. With a woodcut vignette on the title page and a figurative woodcut initial. Florence, Torrentino, 1552. 20 leaves. (last 2 weeks). 8°. Later leather binding with gold-stamped back shield, rich gilt decoration, fillets, red-edged pages and marbled endpapers (front joint split, slightly rubbed and minimally scuffed).

He attended the Council of Trent with distinction and delivered two speeches there, one on clandestine marriages and the other on the re-establishment of ecclesiastical discipline.” - Gentian Hervet (1499–1584) was a French Roman Catholic theologian, humanist and polemicist.
