Bavaria – Lower Saxony – Prussia, etc. Collection of 6 partly autograph letters with signatures, 2 invitations and 1 receipt from King William III, Prussian and Bavarian princes, dukes, etc., 18th/19th centuries. Various formats. Includes: A letter from Frederick William III with the original signature of the Prussian King to the art dealer Wittich. Berlin, 25 March 1816. 6 lines on 1 double sheet of handmade paper. - “I hereby grant the art dealer Wittich permission … to have my portrait, painted in Paris by Gérard, copied by Professor Buchhorn and published as a copperplate engraving …” - 2 small holes and 1 small marginal defect in the paper (no loss of text), slightly stained and soiled. - Adalbert of Prussia. Letter from the High Command of the Navy, bearing the autograph signature of Prince Adalbert (1811–1873), to Mr C. Trutz in Hamburg. Berlin, 20 September 1861. Half a page on 1 double sheet. – Refusal of a post in the Navy on grounds of advanced age. – On the reverse, a handwritten note from 1890 showing through. – Handwritten receipt bearing the authentic signature of Prince August Ferdinand of Prussia (1730–1813) for the Royal Judicial Officer, Mr Wulle, Judicial Secretary at Liegnitz. Half a page on 1 double sheet of laid paper with watermark, as well as address and seal on the reverse. - Seal impression in the paper, small deposit in the margin. - Leopold of Bavaria. Original letter bearing the signature of Prince Leopold (1846–1930) to his cousin. Munich, 3 January 1887. 2 pages on 1 double sheet. Letterhead with gold-stamped, coloured and crowned coat of arms. - Invitation to a ball with a note regarding the dress code. - Prince Arnulf of Bavaria (1852–1907). Original invitation dated 14 November 1886. Half a page on 1 double sheet with a gold-embossed, crowned monogram. – Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst. Original letter signed by Chlodwig, Prince of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (1819–1901). Paris, 24 May 1882. 1 page on 1 sheet of laid paper with a mourning border. – Requests that a parcel be sent to Cardinal Hohenlohe in Rome. - Original, incomplete letter with signature by Cardinal Gustav Adolf of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (1823–1896) to his cousin. Rome, 8 July 1887. 1 page on 1 sheet of laid paper with watermark. - Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Letter with the Duke’s (1735–1806) original signature to the writer and publisher Joachim Heinrich Campe (1746–1818). Braunschweig, 5 January 1788. Half a page on 1 double sheet of handmade paper. – Expresses his thanks for the first issue of the *Braunschweigisches Journal*. - Adolf I Georg. Autograph letter with signature from Prince Adolf Georg of Schaumburg-Lippe (1817–1893) to his cousin (Ernst II of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha? (1818–1893)). Bückeburg, 20 December 1887. 1 page on 1 double sheet. - Expresses his delight at being able to ‘welcome his cousin on a hunting trip in the near future’. - Handwritten note in graphite pencil, small glue stain on the white margin. - Accompanied by: Original signature of the same, with two paper seals on a section of a document. Detmold and Bückeburg, 29 October 1869. - Some pages show crease marks; the paper is somewhat browned and creased, and the margins bear traces of a rusty paper clip in places; occasionally slightly soiled and with (stain) spots; otherwise a generally well-preserved collection. Collection of 6 (partially autograph) signed letters, 2 invitations and 1 receipt from King William III, Prussian and Bavarian princes, dukes, etc., as listed above. Mainly 19th century. Various formats. – Partially with fold marks and rusty paperclip marks on the edges, slightly browned and creased due to the paper, occasionally slightly soiled and stained or foxed, otherwise generally well preserved.
