Brod would like to ask for a decision to be made soon regarding his “submitted novella about the critic Waldmensch. I hope that this will be favourable, for in terms of subject matter and tone I can hardly produce anything more suitable for the magazine you publish. – I also always base my conduct as a contributor on the reception of my first submission, and am either enthusiastic or lukewarm depending on the response.” – Strobl (1877–1946) had been editor of the magazine *Der Turmhahn* since 1913.
