Frederick William courted the young princess, but she declined his proposal of marriage. Instead, in 1705, Caroline married George Augustus of Hanover, the future King George II of Great Britain. Following the early loss of her parents, Caroline was placed under the guardianship of Elector Frederick I of Brandenburg and his wife Sophie Charlotte in Berlin from 1696 onwards. - Folding creases, slight brown staining, slightly creased in places, generally well preserved. - Accompanied by: Decree in the name of King Frederick I of Cleves, 10 May 1712.
