Description
Prussia Normann, Carl Wilhelm von Letter on behalf of the Prussian Crown Prince and Crown Princess, bearing the handwritten signature of the ‘Chamberlain and Captain of the Palace’, addressed to the Royal Director of Music Adalbert Überlée (1837–1897). Berlin, 16 January 1883. 1 page on 1 double sheet (approx. 25 x 20 cm each) bearing the embossed coat of arms stamp ‘In the service of Her Imperial and Royal Highness the Crown Princess’, Von Normann (1727–1888) was private secretary to Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm (later Emperor Friedrich III) and the Crown Princess; in 1866, he became a councillor and first adjutant to Crown Prince Friedrich (III). - A note of thanks for two copies of a submitted poem, which were received with pleasure. “However, to your great regret, Their Imperial Highnesses must decline to accept the dedication of your opera, as the rules observed in this regard to date do not permit the granting of this request”. - Folding creases; folds in places with small tears; partly somewhat creased; otherwise generally in good condition.
