Bavaria Markleugast Church Accounts. German manuscript on handmade paper bearing the watermark ‘Marktleugast’, 1798–1799. 60 folio leaves (35.5 x 12 cm). Contemporary half-leather binding with a handwritten title label mounted on the cover and remnants of binding ribbons (stained; front cover with a few wormholes). Account of the Churches of St Bartholomew and St Martin, under the Most Praiseworthy Government of His Highness the Most Reverend Prince, and His Lordship Christoph Granz, Bishop of Bamberg, Prince of the Holy Roman Empire, drawn up by the then stewards Johann Hahn and Johann Schramm of Markleugast. - Records, amongst other things, income from the Rabenstein fief, wages, interest, sold and bequeathed properties, as well as expenditure on capital loans, ‘the Vicar’s anniversary’, church services, musicians and schoolmasters. - Contains personal names, including those relating to the localities of Hinterrehberg, Seubetenreuth, Wallenfels, Schallerhof, Enchenreuth, Kupferberg, Förstenreuth, Hohenberg, Ziegenburg, Bischofsmühl, Presseck, etc. - 1 page with the (former?) addition ‘Calculated by J. Helmsauer’. - The final page, dated 1798, countersigned by, amongst others, District Administrator Ferdinand Christoph von Künsberg (1733–1799) in Marienweiher, and in 1800 by Panzer in Bamberg. - ‘Bibliothek Thaller’ stamp, address stamp of Ernst Thaller’s carpentry and joinery workshop in Leidling, and an ex-libris stamp belonging to Erika Schug, née Thaller, on both inner covers. - A continuous wormhole in the lower margin; otherwise generally well preserved. German manuscript on handmade paper with watermark. Contemporary half-vellum binding with mounted manuscript title page and remnants of binding ribbons (stained; front cover with a few wormholes). - Accounts of Saints Bartholomew and Martin in Marktleugast. - ‘Bibliothek Thaller’ stamp, the address stamp of Ernst Thaller’s carpentry and joinery workshop in Leidling, and Erika Schug’s (née Thaller) bookplate stamp on both inner covers. - A continuous wormhole along the lower edge; otherwise in good overall condition. This lot is subject to standard tax.
