North Rhine-Westphalia Kortum, Friederika Carolina (Caroline) Small collections belonging to Caroline Kortum (1804–1860, Dortmund; married to Wilhelm Ferdinand Altgeldt (1800–1839, merchant)). Approx. 160 pp., partly hand-paginated, 8° format. Marbled contemporary half-leather binding with a mounted gold-stamped bookplate (worn, bumped). Contains: entries relating to family history, including those concerning her son Hermann Altgeldt (1836–1905, partner in the firm ‘Beatty, Altgeldt & Co.’ in Manchester), prayers and verses (some in different hand). - Endpapers stained by glue, browned due to the paper, some with slight brown and mildew stains; otherwise generally well preserved. - Also included: Manuscript containing a collection of prayers and poems. 19th century. 70 leaves of contemporary paper (rubbed, bumped, stained).
