A masterpiece by Avicenna. Facsimile of the *Canon Medicinae de Avicena* from the University Library of Bologna. Featuring 10 full-page miniatures and 498 pages with plant and animal motifs. Madrid, AyN ediciones 2002. 2 vols. Facsimile and commentary. Original leather binding over bevelled wooden boards with rich blind embossing, metal fittings and 4 leather straps with clasps, in a leather slipcase (corners of the slipcase chipped and scuffed). An impressive facsimile of the principal medical work by the Persian polymath Ibn Sina (Latin: Avicenna). The high-quality miniatures from the Ferrara school illustrate the precious manuscript of the *Canon Medicinae*. It was based on the famous 13th-century Hebrew translation by Natan ha-Meati. – A very good copy, almost as good as new. Masterpiece of the Medicus.
