Pariszi Hóráskönyv (German: Paris Book of Hours). With 21 full-page miniatures, numerous initial miniatures, and rich borders and scrollwork. Facsimile reprint of the 1510 Paris edition by Gillet Hardouyn. With a commentary booklet in Hungarian. Budapest, Helikon 1985. 4° orange velvet binding with silver-plated clasps and corner fittings (the latter slightly oxidised). Numbered copy of the special edition. The original was produced in 1510 in the workshop of the renowned Parisian printer and bookseller Gilles (Gillet) Hardouyn (1455–1529) and ranks among the outstanding achievements of early French book printing.In addition to the actual Book of Hours, it contains a calendar/almanac covering the years 1510 to 1530. The 92-leaf, large-format work (text in Latin and French) is adorned with numerous hand-coloured woodcuts – including 20 to 21 full-page miniatures, as well as countless smaller initial miniatures and richly decorated, historicised borders featuring biblical scenes and the history of salvation. In terms of content, it comprises Gospel sequences, the Hours of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Hours of the Cross, the Hours of the Holy Spirit, the Penitential Psalms, the Litany of All Saints, as well as various prayers and suffrages. Since 1929, the original has been part of the valuable holdings of the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest (call number Ant.76). – A fine copy.
