It covers various facets of the region’s religious, social and political history and is significant in scholarship for its attention to detail and its chronicle-like nature. It also contains extensive accounts of the Turkish wars in the Mediterranean region, including those in Cyprus. Furthermore, it chronologically details the development and activities of the Franciscan Order in the Holy Land, particularly in Syria and Jerusalem.
