Half leather with hand-painted title label (scuffed and bumped, one headband damaged). First edition, published anonymously. – With the stamp of the grammar school in Neuss. - Edgar Bauer was a political and philosophical writer and activist, and the younger brother of the eminent Young Hegelian and theologian Bruno Bauer. Having worked for the *Altonaer Zeitung* during the Schleswig-Holstein War, he fled to London, where he also met Karl Marx. - Some pages with handwritten notes on the endpapers. Margins more heavily browned, some pages with more severe foxing. Overall in good condition. 3 vols. Half leather with handwritten label (rubbed and scuffed, one capital letter damaged). - First edition, published anonymously. - Bearing the stamp of the Gymnasium zu Neuss. - Edgar Bauer was a political-philosophical writer and activist and the younger brother of the prominent Young Hegelian and theologian Bruno Bauer.
