Militaria View of the so-called ‘Steingrube’ near Geislingen. A rare event print. Hand-coloured copperplate engraving. Circa 1809. Sheet dimensions 30 x 50 cm. Mounted on backing paper at the top edge on the reverse and set within a passe-partout. Schefold 2129 – Engraved below the motif: “View of the so-called ‘Steingrube’ near Geislingen, a beautiful meadow lined with lime trees, where the local rifle corps of the former Royal Bavarian Civil Militia is holding its first solemn target-shooting competition … on St Bartholomew’s Day 1809” - Slightly browned and somewhat stained, edges trimmed slightly irregularly, verso with recognisable restorations to the leaf in a few spots, some brown spots. Overall in good condition. Hand-coloured copper engraving.
