Prussia Werner, Anton von Study for the painting ‘Unveiling of the Richard Wagner Monument in Berlin’s Tiergarten’. c. 1906. Pen, pencil and red chalk on light-weight cardboard, washed in watercolour. 48 x 28 cm. The picture shows Prince Eitel Friedrich greeting Leichner, the donor of the monument; on the left are the painter Ludwig Knaus (?) and the sculptor Gustav Eberlein. – Hand-numbered in pencil in the lower right-hand corner: ‘1378’ and ‘1906’. – A section is missing from the right-hand margin; several small mounting holes in all margins; the lower right-hand corner is creased and has minor discolouration; slight foxing; otherwise well preserved.
