A rare Lyon edition of Mynsinger’s comprehensive commentary on the *Institutions*. – Kleinheyer/Scröder 355 ff. – ADB 23, pp. 22–25 – Stintzing-L. I, pp. 485 ff. - The work was first published in 1555 and is regarded as a milestone in the reception of Roman law in Germany as well as in the development of German legal scholarship. Mynsinger created a synthesis of the elegant, text-critical style of legal humanism (mos gallicus) and the practical application of law in everyday life (mos italicus). He not only explained the ancient text of Justinian’s *Institutes*, but also incorporated the legal realities of his own time. - Bookplate on the inside cover, browned.
