Rare first (and only) edition, not listed in VD 18, in Stintzing and Coing. – Cf. ADB 34, p. 570 – A. Soell was a Jesuit and professor of canon law in Dillingen. - This monumental work comprises six independent treatises on ecclesiastical and civil law. The book exemplifies how deeply ecclesiastical law was intertwined with economic matters (tithes, taxes) and secular administration in the 18th century, e.g. in Part 4: *De Decimis Novalium* (On the Tithes of Newly Reclaimed Lands): It regulated whether and to what extent the Church was entitled to claim the ‘tithe’ (tax revenue) even on newly cultivated land (e.g. cleared forests or drained marshes). - Slightly tanned; inside cover with ex-libris ‘Archbishop Corrigan’; stamp on endpaper; small note on title page; overall a good copy.
