Antwerp, Beller, 1604. 722 pp., 1 folio. 8°. A somewhat later paperback with handwritten spine label and Spanish edges (closing ribbons missing, some worm-eaten marks).
Without the copperplate maps and the 2 leaves of errata. – First edition. – Early description of Asia Minor, Palestine, Syria, Mesopotamia and Persia. - Jean-Baptiste Gramaye (1579–1635) was an early modern historian from the Southern Netherlands. He studied law and became a professor at the University of Leuven. He was later appointed court historian by Albert VII, Archduke of Austria. Endpapers with two stamped bookplates (including ‘Franc Com A Thun-Hohenstein Tetschen’) and collector’s stamps. Flying endpapers with handwritten ownership inscriptions. Title page with two collector’s stamps. Slightly browned and partly slightly stained due to the paper. Well preserved.
