China A collection of 16 Chinese school wall charts, produced using colour offset printing from watercolour drawings, featuring botanical, zoological and agricultural illustrations, with captions printed on the front and, in some cases, additionally mounted as strips on the reverse. Shanghai, 1973. Each approx. 100 x 72 cm (4) or approx. 76.7 x 52.7 cm (12). Each mounted on cardboard and fitted with two later eyelets for hanging. An extensive collection of educational illustrations from the late Cultural Revolution period. The 4 landscape and 12 portrait-format panels depict domestic crops (cereals, beans, tomatoes, etc.), some shown in their constituent parts and in cross-section, pests and methods of pest control, as well as an illustration of the ‘versatile uses of the pig’. Some of the boards have labels attached, bearing German typewritten descriptions. – Partly warped, with minor edge discolouration, light-faded edges, slight foxing along the edges, and the hanging loops partly torn. A superb collection of 16 Chinese educational wall charts from the late Cultural Revolution period, each approx. 100 x 72 cm (landscape, 4 charts) or approx. 76.7 x 52.7 cm. (portrait format, 12 charts), each mounted on cardboard and fitted with two eyelets for hanging. - The boards, produced in bright colour offset printing based on watercolours, depict domestic crops (cereals, beans, tomatoes, etc.), some shown in cross-section or with their components, pests and methods of pest control, as well as an illustration of the ‘various uses of the pig’. All charts have captions printed on the front and, in some cases, are additionally mounted as strips on the reverse. Occasionally, they feature tipped-on labels bearing typewritten descriptions in German. - Some of the charts are slightly wavy, with minor shelf wear and foxing in the margins.
