Catalogue of the maps and plans held at the Royal Bavarian Main Army Conservatory. Main volume and 3 supplements in 4 volumes. With 2 lithographed title pages, including a title vignette. Munich, 1832–1872. 8°. Contemporary leather binding with raised bands, gold-stamped spine label and fillets (2, 1 gold-edged) (slightly rubbed and bumped) and contemporary paper boards (tanned, partly stained, 1 spine with a small tear).
First edition, complete with all supplements, rare. A comprehensive catalogue, indexed by subject, with a particular focus on military maps and plans. The works listed in the ‘First Supplement to the Catalogue’ of 1833 were additionally incorporated into the 1848 supplement, which is designated as Volume 3 in the title. The ‘Catalogue’ as published contains the works newly added from April 1848 to October 1871, including a supplement for new acquisitions made whilst the work was in press. The systematic catalogue covers globes, celestial maps, atlases, land, sea and military maps, plans, as well as relief models and panoramas. - Title page of the 1st Supplement bearing the stamp ‘Hauptkonservatorium der Armee’; endpapers of the leather-bound volumes show signs of glue discolouration; the first and last leaves are partly slightly foxed; otherwise in good overall condition.
